How To’s with Photoshop – Making smooth curved lines

NOTE TO ME: “YOU ONLY KNOW WHAT YOU KNOW”

I’ve been using Photoshop for over twenty years and have never made a simple, smooth curved line… Some webmaster I am…

So thanks to Patrick Ryan (Agave Group) for his help on smooth curved line.

STEP ONE
Setup your brush tool a simple 3px brush worked well for me.

STEP TWO
Select the Pen tool. Draw a path looking something like this:

STEP THREE
Select the direct selection tool (the white arrow). Right click on your curve. In the pop-up menu click add anchor point that will put a point on the line. Now, drag that new point.

STEP FOUR

  • Create a new blank layer
  • Go to the paths palette

This is the path you created, it’s called a work path. Right click and choose Stroke Path from the pop-up box:

Deselect the work path (paths palette)  by clicking  anywhere in the palette.

That’s all there is to make a simple, smooth curved line…
